Cabinet discusses services in unregulated housing areas

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet’s weekly session on Tuesday tackled a number of services and development issues, including means to improve services in unregulated housing areas, monitoring food products available in markets, and adopting alternative energy projects.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi stressed the need to improve the level of public services across provinces, particularly in unregulated housing areas, increase vigilance in monitoring food products available in markets, and combat all forms of fraud, smuggling, and manipulation of prices.

Al-Halaqi also called for giving attention to small and micro projects related to fish farming, as well as providing the necessary feed for livestock and poultry in order to stabilize the prices of related products.

He asserted that the government is interested in switching to alternative energy sources, including solar and wind power.

Regarding the industrial zone in Lattakia, the Prime Minister called for providing infrastructure services to it and localizing investments in it that can accommodate a large number of projects.

Al-Halaqi reiterated that the government has begun maintenance and repair work on the Salamiya-Ethraia-Aleppo-Khanasser road as soon as it was secured by the army, and at the same time began to increase efforts to provide food, supplies, electricity, drinking water, and communications to Aleppo city.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem briefed the Cabinet on the latest regional and international developments, asserting that the government is committed to ensuring the success of international initiatives related to intra-Syrian dialogue without any foreign interference or dictates.

Also during the session, the Cabinet took the steps to issue a bill on national legislations for regulating trafficking in endangered wildlife and fauna, as well as a bill on establishing a fund for the communications sector.
