Updated-Russia presented proposals for a ceasefire in Syria, Lavrov says

Munich, SANA-The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on Thursday that Russia is waiting for a reply from the parties of the International Support Group for Syria about Russia’s proposals for a ceasefire in Syria.

During a meeting with his US counterpart John Kerry on the sidelines of Munich Security Conference 2016 (MSC 2016) in Munich, Lavrov said that the Russian side presented proposals on ways to reach a cease-fire in Syria and is awaiting a response from the parties of the International Support Group for Syria.

For his part, Kerry said that achieving progress on the subject of a cease-fire and ensuring humanitarian access to besieged areas is a prerequisite to engage in searching the other aspects of the crisis.

Lavrov and Kerry meeting came ahead of the meeting of the International Support Group for Syria in Munich which is intended discuss means to re-launching the settlement of the Syrian crisis.

De Mistura: No agreement will be reached at the Conference about a list on terrorist organizations

Meanwhile, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura affirmed that no agreement will be reached at Munich Security Conference 2016 about a list on the terrorist organizations in Syria.

“Concerning terrorists, this issue needs longer discussion, it won’t be done today,” De Mistura told Tass news agency.

He added that members of the group didn’t reach an agreement on a cease-fire in Syria until now.
