Cabinet discusses service and economic issues

Damascus, SANA-The Cabinet’s weekly session on Tuesday discussed a number of service and economic issues, mainly the situation of drinking water in Damascus city and the daily citizens’ suffering in relation to transportation and issues related to the electricity sector.

Chairing the session, Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halaqi stressed the importance of rationalizing the government’s spending and resource management and the reduction of waste and corruption.

The Premier pointed to the need to encourage inventors and provide them with continuous support, especially by the Ministries of Education and Industry and Internal Trade, Labor, Economy and popular organizations and trade unions.

For his part, Minister of Transportation Ghazwan Kher Bek reviewed the challenges and difficulties faced by the Syrian Airlines due to the unjust economic blockade and the issues related to being unable to provide spare parts and reconstruction of some aircrafts.

On the occasion of the International Day for people with disabilities, al-Halaqi pointed out to the continued directives of President Bashar al-Assad regarding people with special needs and the government’s efforts to integrate them in community.

The Cabinet condemned the aggression of the US-led coalition against the Syrian army post in Deir Ezzor, stressing that the aggression constitutes an impediment to efforts to combat terrorism but “will not deter our valiant military to continue the fight against terrorists and to achieve more victories.”

The Cabinet denounced the sanctions imposed on al-Manar and al-Mayadeen TV channels by Arabsat Company.
