Total damages to insurance sector in Syria estimated at SYP 177 million

Damascus, SANA- The total economic damages to the insurance sector in Syria due to the current crisis till the end of the first half of the current year has been estimated at SYP 177 million.

The estimated damage amount covers 34 branches of insurance companies excluding 8 branches which the companies haven’t been able to assess their damages, and 3 branches in Idleb, Deir Ezzor, and Raqqa that couldn’t be reached as some of them are completely destroyed.

In a study on the dangers of the damages of insurance industry, the Insurance Supervisory Commission indicated that the acts of sabotage and looting perpetrated by armed terrorist groups stopped the work of seven insurance companies in Homs, in addition to one of the companies in Daraa and other company in Qamishli.

Meanwhile, the economic damages to the companies of managing medical have exceeded SYP 12 million, while the damages of the Syrian Union for Insurance Companies have exceeded SYP 38 million as 30 centers stopped working.
