Justice Minister: Syria will try supporters of terrorism in regional and international courts

Damascus, SANA- Justice Minister Najm al-Ahmad affirmed that Syria is facing terrorists coming from 100 countries and terrorist organizations which receive support and arming from several regional and Western countries, particularly from the US.

During an interview with the American Veterans Today radio, al-Ahmad pointed out that the US had made a mistake when it supported countries which are the main source of terrorism in the region and financed extremist terrorist organizations under the pretense that they are “moderate opposition”.

“The US people and the peoples of Western countries in general have been subjected to great media disinformation about what is going on in Syria due to a terrorist war targeting the Syrian state and society,” he added.

Al-Ahmad noted that terrorist organizations pose a threat on the entire world.

“Instead of fighting extremist organizations, especially al-Qaeda and ISIS, the US administration is supporting the countries which are the sources of terrorism,” he said.

The minister called for cooperation with the Syrian government and army in combating terrorism, demanding a lift of the unjust sanctions which are imposed on the Syrians because they are a form of supporting terrorism in Syria and the world.

“Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel and other countries that support terrorism aim to destroy the Syrian state due to its independent stances,” the minister said.

Answering a question about the role of the Syrian judiciary in combating terrorism, the minister said that Justice Ministry since the beginning of the crisis has been documenting all terrorist crimes, adding that the ministry will head to Syrian, regional and international courts.
