Beirut, SANA Syria will remain the cradle of civilizations, Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East Mar Ignatius Aphrem II said Tuesday, adding that the terror, Syria and Iraq are exposed to, doesn’t threaten Christians only, but the whole humanity.
“There is who seeks to ignite sedition in Syria and Iraq amid fierce global campaign, led by the powers of darkness and aggression, which will lead for displacing Christians and reduce their presence in the region”, Patriarch Aphrem II said in a statement, warning that Christians could be exposed to a genocide by the enemies of humanity.
We have the right to live on our lands in peace, he affirmed, calling on all Christians in the region to stay in the land of their ancestors.
The Patriarch denounced the terrorist attacks of killing, kidnapping and slaughtering, mainly the kidnapping of the two bishops, who were kidnapped by terrorists two years ago north of Syria amid a flagrant international silence, in addition to the brutal crimes committed by the terrorists of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and Jabhat al-Nusra against the Christians in the region, particularly in Syria and Iraq.
