Syrian Red Crescent services cover over 92,000 families in 2nd quarter of 2015

Daraa, SANA Some 92234 families have benefited from the services offered by the branch of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) in the southern Daraa province in the second quarter of 2015, compared to 87810 families in the first quarter.

In a statement to SANA, Chairman of the SARC branch in Daraa Ahmad al-Masalmeh said 10135 food packages were distributed in Daraa city during this period, while 9041 and 32931 packages were distributed in Izraa in al-Sanamin towns respectively.

Al-Masalmeh added that the SARC continues distributing food and medical aid in parallel with its continued efforts in holding first aid and psychological support courses.

The number of trainers in the first five courses held in the 2nd quarter of 2015 reached 149, while the number of those who benefited from the services provided by the psychological support mobile team reached 3338 persons, according to al-Masalmeh.

He also pointed out that the SARC dispensary received during the same period 3666 persons, while the total number of people who visited SARC branch’s medical centers in Daraa city reached 2009 and in Izraa 21091.

Beneficiaries from the services of the health education mobile teams of the SARC branch reached 2336, al-Masalmeh told SANA.

In 2014, the SARC in Daraa distributed 281813 food packages to needy and displaced families, in addition to 58533 family health packages and 53406 children health packages.
