Late Retired Maj. Gen Mohammad Nasif Khair Bek escorted to final resting place

Damascus, SANA- The body of late Retired Maj. Gen, Assistant vice president, Mohammad Nasif Khair Bek was escorted to his final resting place on Monday morning from the al-Shami hospital in Damascus to Mesyaf area in Hama province to be buried in the family’s cemetry.

President Bashar al-Assad was represented at the funeral ceremony by Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam.

The cermony was also attended by representatives of the National Leadership of Baath Arab Socialist Party, Speaker of people’s assembly, Prime minister, a number of army officers in addition to representative of political parties.

On Sunday, the Syrian presidency mourned the late General Khair bek who died on Sunday June 28th 2015 after suffering from an incurable disease.

Khair Bek was born on April 10th 1937.

He joined the Syrian Arab Army in 1961 and had served several security positions since March 8 1963, the last of which was the first assistant to the director of the General Intelligence Department from 1999 to 2005.

In 2005, a decree was issued wherewith he was appointed an Assistant Vice President and remained in this position until he passed away.
