Social Affairs and Oxfam discuss cooperation in building capabilities and skills

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Social Affairs Kinda al-Shammat discussed on Monday with CEO of Oxfam Mark Goldring and the delegation accompanying him mechanisms to activate cooperation in the fields of awareness and hygiene campaigns and building capabilities and skills through organizing training courses to help persons who lost their jobs sustenance themselves.

Goldring pointed out that Oxfam is focusing in its work in Syria on the water sector and supporting displaced citizens who lost their homes due to the current circumstances, affirming that the organization will continue to cooperate with the Ministry to set up plans to support people in need.

For his part, Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry Walid Abdo said that the Ministry is seeking to enhance cooperation with Oxfam in early recovery and helping people sustain themselves, specifically via training courses and providing job opportunities for displaced people, in addition to awareness campaigns implemented by the organization and the Ministry in the field of public hygiene.

The first joint project between Oxfam and the Ministry focused on health education programs in schools, and both sides are working on to expand it through new projects.

Oxfam is an international confederation of 17 organizations working in approximately 94 countries worldwide to find solutions to poverty and injustice around the world.
