Damascus, SANA – Electricity Minister Imad Khamis said Wednesday that terrorists fired rocket shells on Mhardeh power generation plant in Hama countryside causing fire in the plant.
Khamis added that the plant went out of service due to the terrorist attack.
Electricity Minister told SANA that the firefighter team managed to extinguish the fire that broke out in the fuel tanks, asserting that the primary damage is estimated at hundreds of millions of Syrian pounds.
The sabotage came in the framework of a series of repetitive systematic attacks on the electricity sector causing material damage and thus increasing the power rationalization hours.
In a relevant context, SANA reporter in Hama said that a number of citizens were injured and their houses were damaged when terrorist fired rocket shells on Mhardeh city in coincidence with the terrorist attack on the plant.
An army unit also thwarted armed terrorist groups’ attempt to attack a military checkpoint in the city, killing or injuring a number of terrorists, a source at the province told SANA.
