Muscat, SANA-With the participation of Syria, the 35th conference of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information kicked off in the Omani capital, Muscat, on Tuesday under the theme “Libraries and Arab Archives Institutions and Their Role in Promoting Digital Identity and Citizenship”, at Grand Millennium Muscat Hotel for three days.
The conference, which is organized by the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information, in cooperation with the Omani Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth as well as Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), included scientific papers, workshops, and dialogue sessions and aimed to highlight the importance of libraries and archives in supporting society, developing national identity and digital citizenship, and enhancing cooperation among Arab countries in this field.
In turn, the Director of the Assad Library, Fadi Ghanem, affirmed that “Syria’s participation with two research papers in the conference after a long hiatus is a valuable opportunity to present al-Assad Library’s experience in preserving documentary cultural heritage and promoting digital identity and citizenship.”
