Concert at Um az-Zinnar Church in Homs marking one year after restoring stability to old city

Homs, SANA-“Time for Music” band organized on Saturday a concert in the square of Um az-Zinnar church (St. Mary Church of the Holy Belt) in Homs city marking one year after restoring security and stability to the neighborhoods of the old city.

Large numbers of Homs locals turned out to attend the concert which featured a number of national songs.

Member of the National Reconciliation Committee in Homs Father Michael Nou’man said life goes on in Syria thanks to the unity binding the Syrians together and their support for their army in the battle against terrorism.

The old city of Homs was declared free of terrorist organizations on May 9 2014. Thereafter, debris removal and rehabilitation operations commenced to restore normalcy to the city.

The venerated relic that is supposed to be a section of the belt of Virgin Mary which the landmark church is named after was ceremoniously returned to the Church on August 16 2014.

The Church sustained severe damage at the hands of terrorists who had ravaged the Old City before they were forced out by the army.
