Moscow Conference on Armenian genocide: Turkey should admit genocide crimes committed by the Ottomans

Moscow, SANA International Experts called for the necessity that Turkey admits its crimes against the Armenian people in 1915 which are considered as no statute of limitations crimes.

The experts reiterated, during a Scientific Conference held in Moscow on Monday on the 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide, April 24 of 1915 committed by the Ottoman Empire against the Armenian people, that Turkey should compensate
material and human losses of the Armenian people.

The Conference was held by the Russian Institute for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Studies in cooperation with the Social Council of Federal Russia and Union of Russian Armenians in Moscow.

The participants stressed that Turkey’s non-confession of the genocide against the Armenians in 1915 hinders Turkish government efforts to join the EU and various European structures as some Europeans affirm that Turkey is a non-democratic state.

The Turkish government has officially announced its zero problems” with neighboring countries, but we see today that it is not a zero
problem but in fact perpetual problems with the neighbors, as Syria is the most prominent victim of the Turkish new policy, Chairman of the CIS and member of the Social Council Constantine Zatulin told SANA correspondents in Moscow.

Zatulin expressed regret for that the current Turkish government was a key initiator to instigate the crisis in Syria in the early stages
of the crisis.

We will not support any behavior and acts which aim at escalating destabilization of Syria as it has been exposed to a very dangerous foreign backed-offensive, he went on to say.

Armenian Ambassador to Federal Russia Oleg Yesayan to SANA that the Armenian citizens remembers this day and they will later remember that Syria was the safe haven for tens of thousands of the Armenians who have survived the Turkish racial genocides in 1915.

Yesayan pointed out the historical deep rooted relations between Armenia and Syria as these relations.

Confirming the good relations between Syria and Armenia, the Ambassador said Syria is an independent sovereign state which can solve its problem by itself in the way that fits it and its people.

Solving the crisis in Syria was possible through reaching an agreement among the Syrians themselves unless hundreds of thousands of mercenary terrorists who have entered Syria supported and financed by Qatar, Saudi Arabia and
Turkey, Orientalist academic Victor Nadiyin Reifsky Senior Researchers at the World Economy and International Relations Institute affiliated to the Russian Academy of Sciences said

Reifsky called on the international community to condemn and hold accountable who perpetrate the crimes against the Armenian people, asserting that what is taking place in Syria is a crime against all components of the Syrian people.

He expressed regret for the acts of sabotage, demolishing and destruction committed by the terrorist groups in Syria, mainly against Aleppo city.

Director of the International Law and policy Institute Alexander Safarantis thanked the Syrian people and leadership for their support to the Armenian people who were survived from the Ottomans massacres against the Armenian people in 1915.

Safarantis described the Turkish government’s stance toward Syria as destructive.
