Nasrallah : Nobody can outline future of the region without Syria, the war on Syria failed

Damascus, SANA – Syria is a pivotal state which has its independent decision and strategy and nobody can draw the future of the region without it, Secretary General of the Lebanese Hezbollah Party Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said.

Nasrallah added, in an interview with the Syrian al-Ekhbariya TV aired Monday night, the war on Syria failed and didn’t achieve its goals in destructing the Syrian state due to its people, army and leadership resilience.

The battle in Syria will resolve the future of the Arab-Israeli conflict as Syria’s loss is a loss of Lebanon and Palestine, Nasrallah stressed.

Hezbollah leader pointed out that the terrorist organization of “al-Qaeda” came to Syria to control it and then to control the region in addition to Yemen, asserting that it didn’t seek the interests of the Syrian people but rather toppling the state and undermining its role in the region.

Hezbollah is not a regional power and a regular army ,but it is a resistant movement which has certain potentials and has typical impact in some domains, mainly in facing guerrillas, Nasrallah said, adding “WE are in Syria according to the need and potentials and where we should be and our presence has no political or non-political considerations.”

He pointed out that the battle of Qalamoun is a Syrian and Lebanese common need, asserting that the military decision in Syria is the decision of the Syrian military commanders.

“Our decision to enter the war in Syria was a declared choice which  emerged from our sense of the historical responsibility at this stage, Nasrallah went on to say, adding that the bulk of the conspiracy and the battle prepared against Syria was very big and it was clear from the beginning that it is a tough and long battle due to the international, regional and local realignment.

Nasrallah stressed that they (Conspirators) aimed at confiscating Syria’s independent decision through diplomatic, commercial and tourist relations and investment of billions of dollars’ in establishing projects in Syria in return for Syria abandoning Lebanon, Palestine and all the resistance movements as a start to the American hegemony on the Syrian decision, which failed due to Syria’s principled stance.

Answering a question on whether Hezbollah, as a part of the resistance axis, is afraid of attrition in its war against terrorism, Nasrallah answered that there are risks of attrition, yet the resistance movements in Syria, Iraq and the countries which have faced terrorism don’t have any choice but to fight and be victorious as the nations who deserve life are the nations who are ready to sacrifice.

Nasrallah said that the solution to the crisis in Syria will start once the Syrian opposition has an independent will in its decision to get engaged in a political dialogue, but there are some groups who are linked to the Saudi, Turkey, Qatari and Jordanian intelligence and there is not a political or military leadership of the opposition to be invited to a political dialogue.

Nasrallah wondered whether “the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and Jabhat al-Nusra” terrorist organizations, who have started to establish control over the areas which were the strongholds of the opposition, are ready to participate in the dialogue with their approaches and mentality, and whether they have the culture of dialogue and coexistence.

He indicated that the problem with the Saudi mentality is that they don’t understand the reality of the steadfastness of the Syrian people, army and leadership, considering that accusing Hezbollah of occupying Syria is “an attempt to underestimate Syria’s will, its Army’s capabilities, and an attempt to find a legitimacy to support the armed opposition in Syria even if it has a Takfiri mentality.

He pointed out that what is taking place in the region is a political conflict that serves political goals and projects through which the religion is being exploited and even the conflict with “Israel” which is not a conflict between the Muslims and the Jews, but a conflict with the Zionists who occupied Palestine and attacked the people in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon and the whole region and committed massacres against them.

Nasrallah said that the response to the Israeli attack against Shebaa Farms aimed at delivering a clear message to the enemy that there are “no roles of engagement and no front can be isolated from the other”, indicating that if the response were from Syria, its value on the strategic, political and moral levels would have been much less and it would have meant that we follow the equations which they draw.

Regarding the “Saudi-US aggression” against Yemen, Nasrallah said “The goal behind this aggression is to destroy the infrastructure and to undermine the Yemeni army because the US, ‘Israel’ and the alliance member states don’t want a strong army in this region that could be a threat to Israel or to the US hegemony one day.”
