Speaker al-Lahham meets parliamentarians from Uruguay, Vietnam, Venezuela, and Seychelles

Hanoi, SANA – Hanoi, SANA – Speaker of the Syrian People’s Assembly on Wednesday held a number of meetings with heads of delegations participating in the 132nd session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union which will be concluded today in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Speaker al-Lahham met Deputy President of the Senate of Uruguay Ivonne Pasada, stressing to him the need to boost parliamentary and economic cooperation between the two countries and the important role of parliaments in confronting extremism and terrorism.

He also met Deputy Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and discussed with her expanding parliamentary and economic cooperation and thanking the Vietnamese authorities for their efforts in hosting the IPU session.

Al-Lahham also met head of the Venezuelan delegation Dario Vivas, affirming to him Syria’s support for Venezuela in its struggle against foreign interference in its affairs, with Vivas likewise reiterating Venezuela’s support to Syria in its fight against terrorism. They also reviewed the strong relations between the two countries.

In a similar meeting, al-Lahham discussed with Speaker of the National Assembly of Seychelles Patrick Herminie the situation in the Middle East, the spreading threat of terrorism, and parliamentary relations.
