Minsk, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Bassam Sabbagh, met on Thursday with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov as part of their participation in the Second International Conference on Eurasian Security in the Belarusian capital, Minsk in the presence of the delegations accompanying the two ministers.
The two sides discussed some aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries, in addition to the dangerous developments in the region, the need to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Palestinian and Lebanese territories, as well as the repeated Israeli attacks on Syria.
Minister Sabbagh pointed out that despite the difficult circumstances facing Syria, the Syrian government has taken serious measures to receive and secure arrivals from brotherly Lebanon as a result of the Israeli aggression against it.
During the meeting, Sabbagh referred to the facilities provided to the large numbers of Syrian returnees, which refutes allegations that some Western states are trying to promote regarding aspects related to the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
The two Ministers also touched upon the preparations for the twenty-second meeting on Syria in accordance with the Astana formula in mid-November, bearing in mind the importance of this track in working to restoring security and stability in Syria.
