Saudi regime launches illegal air assault on Yemen, Iran demands a halt to aggression 

Sanaa, SANA- Gulf warplanes, led by Saudi regime, launched an air assault on several civilian and military positions in Yemen, claiming the lives of several civilians, including women and children.

”Saudi warplanes bombed Sana’a airport and other important sites in Yemen”, SANA reporter in Yemen said Thursday.

Member of the political council of the Ansar Allah movement in Yemen, Mohammad al-Bekhiti, affirmed that the Saudi air assault on Yemeni capital of Sana’a is illegal and serves the US project and enemies of Islamic nation.

”Saudi Arabia interferes  in Yemen’s local affairs to undermine any national project”, al-Bekhiti said in  press statements, adding that the Yemeni people stand together to encounter the Saudi assault and will face bravely the war imposed on it.

Al-Bekhiti asserted that coming days will prove that this assault is a mistake and Yemen will react to any assault similarly.

In this context, a source at Yemen’s Defense Ministry said the Yemeni army and armed forces, with support of all the Yemeni people, will encounter this assault that violates all the international laws and Yemeni sovereignty.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif condemned the Saudi military operations against Yemen as a violation of Yemen’s Sovereignty, warning that the operations will only lead to bloodshed of innocent people.

In a statement to the Iranian al-Alam news channel in Switzerland, Zarif called on Saudi Arabia to immediately halt the military operations in Yemen.

While cautioning that these operations would drag the region into more tensions, Zarif said Iran will do its best to contain the crisis in Yemen as soon as possible.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham denounced the Saudi aggression as “a dangerous step” that contravenes the international obligations on respecting the national sovereignty of countries.

In the same context, Chairman of the Iranian Shura Council’s Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security Alaeddin Boroujerdi warned Saudi Arabia of the Serious consequences that could result from its military intervention in Yemen and called on it to stop its aggression as soon as possible and solve the Yemeni crisis by political means.
