Bogdanov, Haddad discuss prospects for political settlement in Syria

Moscow, SANA-Russian President’s Special Envoy for the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed with Syria’s ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad bilateral friendship relations and prospects for a political settlement to the Syrian crisis.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the two sides exchanged views on the prospects for reaching a political settlement to the crisis, adding that they “showed understanding of the practical issues related to the second inter-Syrian consultative meeting scheduled for early April in Moscow.”

The statement added that important issues related to “future enhancement of traditional friendship relations between Russia and Syria” were also discussed.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said earlier that the second round of the inter-Syrian consultative meetings will be held in Moscow in early April.
