Mikdad receives credentials of the new resident Representative of UNFPA in Syria

Damascus,SANa-Foreign and Expatriate Minister Fayssal Mikdad received the credentials of Muriel Mafico, the new resident representative of The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)in Syria.

Minister Mikdad hailed the fruitful and continuing cooperation between Syria and UNFPA and the many projects carried out by the Fund in the country, stressing that Syria will provide all facilities and support to the Fund to carry out the tasks entrusted to it.

Speaking about the economic situation in Syria, Mikdad noted the catastrophic and inhumane effects of the unilateral economic measures imposed on the country by US and Western countries, contrary to what these countries claim to be concerned for the lives of civilians and their rights.

In turn, Mafico thanked the Syrian government for the facilities it provided to the Fund and stressed the Fund’s commitment in helping Syrian people and allocating possible resources for that.
