Damascus, SANA – Supported by the Syrian government, General Authority for Palestinian Arab Refugees (GAPAR) and the United Nations Relief and Worker Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) on Tuesday distributed packages of humanitarian aid to residents of al-Yarmouk Camp, Damascus countryside, who are besieged by the terrorist organizations.
Director-General of GAPAR Ali Mustafa told SANA that the assistance distributed in Palestine and Nisreen streets in the camp and in al-Tadamon neighborhood under the supervision of the Supreme Committee for Relief contains 340 food packages.
Mustafa clarified that 57891 food and 11618 hygiene packages have been distributed since January 30th of 2014.
He added that the medical team of UNRWA and Palestinian Red Cross Society (PRCS) medical center continued to treat a number of patients and provided them with the required medicines, adding that Nour Association for Relief and Development distributed bread and food supplements, in addition to delivering medicine for treating typhoid to PRCS.
“8 patients were taken out of the Camp to Damascus hospitals so that the number of patients evacuated becomes 4653,” Mustafa continued to say.
On March 5th, Anwar Abdul-Hadi, Director of the Political Bureau of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in Damascus announced the resumption of aid distribution in the terrorist-besieged Yarmouk Camp after a three-month interruption.
The neighborhood, which is located in southern Damascus city, came under the terrorist organizations’ siege in late 2012, and since then the delivery of humanitarian aid has been repeatedly suspended under incessant attempts by terrorists to disrupt it.
