German tourists visit Palmyra, document the devastation caused by terrorism

Palmyra, SANA- “My dream came true to visit Syria and see the ruins of Palmyra, which I read and heard a lot about from some Syrian expatriates.” With these words, German tourist Ness Himale described her happiness as she was touring with a German tourist group currently visiting Palmyra.

Himali, who works as a nurse and speaks Arabic, is one of 19 the tourists who documented the systematic sabotage that the city, registered on the World Heritage List, was subjected to at the hands of the terrorist organization “Daesh”.

The tourists expressed their deep sadness at witnessing the destruction of the archaeological monuments that narrate the civilization of the Kingdom of Palmyra.

“I am very eager to see Syrian civilization, and my love for the ancient city is indescribable”, the tourist Shawcraft, who is an expert in tourism affairs said.

“I visited it about 40 years ago and now I was greatly affected by what I saw of some of the destroyed archaeological monuments caused by the enemies of culture and humanity. Therefore, it is necessary to restore these historical monuments that are considered as the property of humanity”, he added.

The German tourist Mnamis Vaka, an opera singer, also expressed her great happiness at learning about the cultural heritage of the city.

Vaka noted that she will convey to her friends the truth about what is happening in Syria and the strength and courage of the Syrian people.
