President al-Assad chairs meeting of Higher Education Council: Universities are one of the most important pillars of society

Damascus, SANA-President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday chaired a meeting for the Higher Education Council, affirming that universities are one of the most important pillars of society.

The Higher Education Council proposes the vision of the higher education and scientific research sector for the next period 2023-2030 during a meeting chaired by President al-Assad with the participation of the ministerial team concerned.

This vision is based on the main headlines of higher education that is launched from educational policies, including the absorption policy, the educational map, technical education, digital transformation, private university education, and scientific research.

The discussed vision puts those titles according to their current situation, challenges, and future trend towards them within a perspective that defines the role of universities in society and the state, and sets work programs related to priorities within an executive strategy that achieves that vision.

President al-Assad affirmed during the meeting that universities, as a tool for education and scientific research, are one of the most important pillars of society, and a major tool in its development that raises its intellectual and professional level. On the other hand, society raises the level of universities, pointing out that our society is prepared for scientific achievement, but it has not succeeded so far in investing the university as a tool to obtain this achievement.

State institutions in various sectors play a vital role in implementing the vision of higher education and its programs and plans to reach the required outputs that the state and society need in the next stage.
