Wellington, SANA- A 7.3 magnitude earthquake rocked the Kermadec Islands region near New Zealand on Monday.

A magnitude 7.3 earthquake rocked the Kermadec Islands region near New Zealand on Monday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said, adding that the quake was at a depth of 10 km.

The U.S. Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the tsunami threat from the earthquake in the Kermadec Islands region has now passed.

A 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Kermadec Islands in New Zealand last March.
