Shoukry calls for eliminating terrorism in Syria, ending foreign interference

Cairo, SANA- Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, has underlined the necessity to eliminate terrorism in Syria and to put an end to the foreign intervention in the country.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Ahmed Abu Zeid said that in a phone call with UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen on Sunday, Shoukry affirmed “Egypt’s full support for the UN efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive Syrian-owned political settlement in accordance with Security Council Resolution No. 2254.”

The spokesman highlighted the great priority that Egypt attaches to restoring Syria’s security and stability and ending all forms of terrorism and foreign interference in the country.

Both sides agreed on continuing consultation and coordination in the upcoming stage, as the UN envoy appreciated Egypt’s role and its continued support for the UN in order to reach a solution to the crisis in Syria.
