Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, discussed on Tuesday with Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, bilateral relations and means of boosting them to reach the two peoples’ aspired-for ambitions.
The two sides held discussions on phone about a number of issues, most importantly the humanitarian aid and UNSC resolution No. 2642 and the western countries’ disavowal from their commitments, particularly in regards to the early recovery projects.
Mikdad briefed his Russian counterpart on the economic difficulties Syria is encountering because of the unilateral western-US measures and the US occupation’s plundering of Syrian resources of oil, wheat and others while Syrians are suffering from shortage of energy.
He said Syria condemns western campaigns that target Russia and attempts to undermine its national security.
Lavrov, for his part, reaffirmed his country’s support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its efforts for the return of refugees.
He stressed Russia’s determination to protect Donbass, expressing his country’s appreciation for Syria’s support in this regard.
