Masses on Christmas at Maronite Diocese and Our Lady of Fatima Syriac Catholic Church

Damascus, SANA- Christian denominations in Syria celebrated Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, the messenger of love and peace, by holding masses and prayers in the churches and worship places.

A mass was held at St. Anthony’s Church, the Maronite Archdiocese in Damascus, Sunday and it was presided over by Father Maroun Touma, and it was served by the church choir.

In his sermon, Father Touma referred to the sublime and great meanings of Christmas and its values ​​that call for love, goodness and peace.

Father Touma emphasized that thanks to the sacrifices of the martyrs of the valiant Syrian Arab army, we live free on the soil of our sacred homeland.

In Our Lady of Fatima Syriac Catholic church, Archbishop Mar Yohanna Jihad Battah, the Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Damascus, presided over a mass held on Christmas.

In his sermon, Bishop Battah said that the Syrians have remained steadfast thanks to their adherence to their belonging to their homeland despite the pain, difficulties and unjust siege imposed on them.

“With the grace of God and the solidarity of our people with our heroic army and our leadership, we will overcome the impacts of the terrorist war, and we will rebuild our homeland.” Bishop Battah said.
