Damascus, SANA- Deputy Foreign and Expatriates’ Minister, Bashar al-Jaafari discussed on Thursday with his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Quang Hieu means of enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries and increasing coordination and consultation between them at international forums.

Al-Jaafari, in a telephone call with Quang Hieu, appreciated the principled stances of Vietnam and its support for Syria during its membership in the Security Council, noting the importance of common denominations between both countries, especially their membership in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) , the Group of 77 and the Friends in Defense of the Charter.

He welcomed Vietnam’s appointment of a non-resident Ambassador to it in Syria, affirming the need to boosting bilateral relations in various fields and coordinating the two countries’ stances to confront the illegitimate  unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the US and the West on the peoples of the world.

In turn, the Vietnamese deputy minister hailed  the historical relations between the two countries and Syria’s stance in support of Vietnam’s struggle for its independence and territorial integrity.

Hieu stressed the need to reflect those historical relations politically and economically through increasing trade exchange and political and diplomatic cooperation between them.
