Six people killed, 24 injured as a bus targeted by terrorist bombing in Damascus

Damascus, SANA Six people were killed and 24 others were injured on Sunday when terrorists blew up an explosive device placed in a bus in al-Kallaseh area near al-Hamiydiyeh market in Damascus city.

A source at the Police Command told SANA that terrorists detonated an explosive they had earlier placed in the front part of the bus, leaving six people dead and 24 others injured.

The explosive device weighed 5 kg, the source noted.

Engineering units’ members defused another 5 kg explosive device, which was found inside a bag placed on the floor of the bus, the source was quoted as saying.

SANA reporters said the bus’s front was ripped off due to the blast, while material damage was caused in area surrounding the explosion site.

A medical source at Damascus Hospital said at least 12 people were admitted to the hospital, some of them are in a critical condition, adding that a three-year-old boy was among the injured.

Another medical source at the Red Crescent Hospital said it received three injured people, while another injured person was taken to al-Mouwasat Hospital.

Health Minister Dr. Nizar Yazigi, who visited Damascus Hospital to check up on the injured, said the injured from the blast are “in a good and stable condition after they were administered necessary medication.”

Most of the casualties are Lebanese whose wounds vary in severity, he added, considering the attack “an indication of the terrorists’ bankruptcy.”

Hezbollah condemns the criminal act

Meanwhile, Hezbollah condemned the terrorist explosion carried out by “Takfiri criminals” in Damascus.

“The explosion is part of a series of bombings that targeted visitors in Syria and civilians in Iraq and the prayers in Pakistan, claiming the lives of scores of martyrs,” Hezbollah said in a statement.

A lot of Lebanese figures also denounced the criminal act, affirming that Israel and its tools in the region were behind it.
