Syria condemns in the strongest terms beheading Japanese hostages

Damascus, SANA- Syria on Sunday condemned in the strongest terms beheading Japanese citizens Kenji Goto and Haruna Yukawa by the ISIS terrorist organization.

An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement to SANA that this brutal crime reflects the danger of terrorism on all countries of the world and its nations as it reflects the necessity of halting the support provided to it by some countries and parties which are known for arming, financing and training these terrorist groups.

The source added that Syria expresses sympathy with the families of the victims and with the Japanese people, and stresses that the war on terrorism entails honest cooperation by countries of the world as a whole with the efforts exerted by Syria to eliminate this danger in the framework of implementing the UN Security Council’s resolution No. 2170 and of respecting the international legitimacy and the countries’ sovereignty and the non-interference in their affairs.

Last night, the ISIS terrorist organization released a video in which it announced that it had beheaded Japanese hostage Kenji Goto a week after beheading another Japanese citizen by the organization.
