Malaysia: We will not impose any unilateral sanctions on Russia

Kuala Lumpur, SANA- Malaysia has stressed that it will not impose any unilateral sanctions on Russia, and reiterated its call to continue negotiations on the situation in Ukraine.

The Malaysian News Agency quoted Foreign Minister Dato Sri Saifuddin Abdullah as saying in front of the parliament that “Malaysia, as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council, has called for a ceasefire and the continuation of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.”

Abdullah added, “There is no need yet for unilateral sanctions, and if necessary, the United Nations will do so,” pointing out that “if the imposition of sanctions is not properly studied, they will affect the innocent people.”
