European Union blocks Russia’s RT and Sputnik channels

Brussels, SANA- The European Union(EU) officially announced on Wednesday blocking the Russian channels of Sputnik and RT in the EU countries, in a move that refutes the Western claims of respecting freedom of opinion.

The permanent representatives of the European Union agreed to ban the Russian channel “RT” and “Sputnik” in the EU countries, the French mission in the Council of the European Union was quoted by Russia Today website as saying in a statement.

The mission added that the representatives also agreed to ban participation in projects co-financed by the Russian Direct Investment Fund, in addition excluding the Russian banks from the SWIFT system.
