Medicine magazine releases report about success of treating a chronic case in Damascus hospital

Damascus, SANA-International Medicine Magazine released a report about success of treating a disease at the General Authority of Damascus Hospital (al-Mujtahid) for a 34-year person who suffers from ulcerative colitis with pneumonia “Covid 19” and SARS Cove 2, through biological drugs.

The sick man visited the Digestive Diseases section with an attack of acute ulcerative colitis with pneumonia “Covid 19” and SARS Cove 2. He also suffered from bloody diarrhea from 6 to 8 times a day, a high temperature of 38.9 degrees and severe pain in abdomen with a diagnosis of colon on the left side six months before he came to hospital, Director of Hospital and supervisor of the case, Dr. Ahmed Abbas, said.

Dr. Abbas added that medical tests and an integrated study of the patient’s condition were conducted in cooperation and coordination with other medical cadres.

He said that medical recommendations varied about sharing biological therapy with Covid 19 treatment in the acute attack of the disease, but the patient did not respond to a high dose of steroids

Abbas added that the staff finally decided to treat the case with biological medicines under follow-up of the specialists, providing all necessities till he recovered, and then he left the hospital in a good and stable condition.

Medicine magazine published late last year a case documented by the General Authority of Damascus Hospital as it succeeded in treating a 13-year child suffering from severe ulcerative colitis through a biological treatment usually used for adults.
