Tehran to transfer its reconstruction expertise to Syria, says Ghasemi

Tehran, SANA – Advisor to Iranian First Vice-President Rostam Ghasemi said Iran intends to transfer its expertise and experience in the field of building and reconstruction to Syria.

In a statement to the Iranian Fars news agency on Saturday, Ghasemi, who is the Chairman of the Iranian-Syrian Economic Relations Development Committee, expressed Iran’s intention to contribute to invigorating the economy of Syria as well as that of neighboring countries.

He referred to Iran’s cooperation with Iraq through a new agreement that would see Tehran supplying Baghdad with gas.

Ghasemi was received by President Bashar al-Assad in a meeting early this month. The talks tackled the efforts being made to strengthen economic relations between Syria and Iran and the need for optimal investment in the available opportunities in various vital sectors to benefit both countries.

During the meeting, Ghasemi affirmed that Iran is committed to continue providing support and expertise to empower Syria on the economic level and bolster its steadfastness until victory is achieved.

He also noted that there are untapped economic potential and resources in Syria and Iran, and that there are many projects that could be invested in to serve the strategic relation between the two countries.
