Homs, SANA- The first cesarean delivery in a woman with COVID-19 was reported in al-Bassel Hospital in al-Zahraa neighborhood, Homs Province. Both the mother and the newborn are well.
The women, aged 27, works as a midwife at the hospital. She tested positive for COVID-19 on Sep. 23rd and she entered the ICU, according to the Hospital’s Director Dr. Ali Jabir.
Jabir added that after conducting the necessary tests, the woman underwent an emergency cesarean section last Friday and the newly born was put in the incubator to track his health status.
The woman is recovering gradually under the supervision of healthcare workers specialized in the coronavirus cases.
