Syria calls upon international organizations to put pressure on Turkish occupation to stop cutting off water in Hasaka

Damascus, SANA- Syrian government has reiterated its strong condemnation of the repeated brutal Turkish practices by cutting off drinking water from Alouk water pumping station in Hasaka city and its suburbs.

The Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that Turkish occupation forces and its mercenaries continue their criminal practices and violations against the Syrian civilians in Hasaka province, as the Turkish forces again cut off drinking water, which is pumped from Alouk station, from Hasaka city and its suburbs for more than a-16 day in a row for over one million Syrians despite the critical health condition associated with the Covid-19 pandemic and the need for water to drinking and hygiene.

The statement noted that the Syrian government renews its strong condemnation of these repeated brutal Turkish practices, which have exceeded 23 times since October 2019, adding that they violate the provisions of international humanitarian law.

The statement went on saying that Syria calls on the international organizations, especially the United Nations and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to put pressure on the Turkish occupation authorities to stop these criminal practices against innocent Syrians in Hasaka province, as well as shedding light on these violations and its catastrophic repercussions on the Syrian citizens and to immediately re-pumping water from Alouk station.

Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Bashar al-Jaafari summoned today morning the representatives of the UN Resident Coordinator and UN agencies operating in Syria and the representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Syria, informed them of seriousness of the matter, calling on them to immediately move in New York and Geneva in order to stop this unjustified Turkish escalation towards the Syrian citizens in Hasaka province.
