Czech FM: No political solution can be reached without Syrian government

Prague, SANA- Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek renewed his call for negotiation with Syrian government without which no solution can be reached.

“We have been repeatedly hearing reservations to the effect that it is almost impossible to draw a line between moderate opposition and “bad” or extremist opposition, and that this division does not work when approaching specific events,” Zaoralek said on Wednesday in an interview with Pravo, a Czech daily newspaper.

Zaoralek pointed out that he called during a Brussels Conference for involving Syria and Iran in the international efforts t fight the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) because the current question is whether the bet on the so called “ moderate opposition “ will yield any result.

He pooh-poohed differentiation between a “moderate” and extremist opposition, describing it as a “weak perception,” a point, he added, that has been agreed on by many who attended the anti-ISIS conference in Brussels.

“This point has raised many eyebrows during Brussels conference. It is a perception that is, apparently, based on good intentions but it creates a fanciful world,” the Czech FM said.

Czech has kept its embassy in Damascus open, representing the US and other Western states’ interest in Syria which, he said “serves as a bridge that might be used when necessary.”
