Int’l Conference on Return of Syrian Refugees kicks off tomorrow in Damascus

Damascus, SANA- The International Conference on Return of Syrian Refugees will kick off on Wednesday at the Conferences Palace in Damascus with the participation of several countries with the aim of putting an end to the suffering of the refugees and to facilitate their return to their homeland.

Activities of the two-day conference will include several sessions that will tackle the current situation in Syria, the conditions for the refugees’ return, and the obstacles hindering their return, in addition to creating the appropriate conditions for their return.

The conference will also discuss the humanitarian aid, restoring the infrastructure, and the cooperation between the scientific and educational organizations, as well as the reconstruction of the energy infrastructure in Syria in the post-war stage, and it will conclude its activities by a closing session and a final statement.

Earlier on Monday, Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Ayman Sousan affirmed that an invitation has been sent to all the countries to participate in the conference except Turkey as “It is not possible to hope for any positive matter from Erdogan’s regime, the first supporter of terrorist organizations in Syria”, noting that some countries have been under pressure to discourage them from participating in the conference.

Sousan added that China, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, UAE, Pakistan and Sultanate of Oman are among the states which will participate in the conference, while the UN will participate as an observer.
