Damascus , SANA – The national anti-polio vaccination campaign continued its activities for the second day through health centers , mobile teams and temporary residence centers in different provinces.
The campaign targets children from one day to five years old regardless of any previous vaccinations with taking all the preventative measures to confront coronavirus .
It is expected that about 553,489 children under five in Damascus and its countryside will benefit from the vaccination.
Director of Damascus Health Department, Hazar Ra’ef, pointed out that the campaign targets 210,000 children in the province and 187 mobile teams and 39health centers participate as the vaccination will be offered to 342 kindergartens .
She affirmed the importance of the campaign and the vaccination days which are held periodically to guarantee the health of children and caring about the next generation and protecting them from diseases, particularly polio.
According to statistics posted on Damascus countryside Health Directorate’s website, it is expected that anti-polio vaccination will target 343,489 children by 149 fixed health centers or 419 mobile vaccination teams.
The Health ministry launched on Sunday a new national polio vaccination campaign and it will last until 15 of October targeting about 2 million and 800 thousands children .
