Moscow, SANA- Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani affirmed their countries’ continued support to Syria in its war on terrorism until eradicating it completely, stressing that there is no alternative to political solution to the crisis in Syria.
Speaking during a summit for the Astana process guarantor states (Russia, Iran, and Turkey) via a video conference on Wednesday that Russia will continue to support Syria in its war on terrorism until eradicating it completely, noting that the coercive Western unilateral economic measures imposed on the country are illegitimate and violate the international law.
For his part, Rouhani affirmed that the Syrian people decide the future of their country by themselves without external interference, and that there is no alternative to a political solution to the crisis in Syria, stressing the need for continuing combating terrorism in Syria with commitment to respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Rouhani said that Iran will continue to support the Syrian people and the legitimate government in Syria more than before.
