In a new racial incident, US woman captured on video insulting Filipino American woman

Washington, SANA- In a new incident that exposes the phenomenon of racism which is rooted in the American society, an American elderly woman was caught on video while she was directing a stream of racial slurs to a young woman of Filipino origins who was exposed to severe verbal abuse from her just because she was exercising in a public park in Torrance, California.

Activists circulated on social media a footage and pictures showing the young woman of Filipino origin while she was exercising on the garden stairs on a sunny day, and an old American woman approached her and she started to talk with her using many racist insults against the young woman for allegedly blocking stairs to exercise.

The American woman said to the young woman “Get out of this world … Get out of this country … This is not your place … Not your country… We do not want you here” and she directed a stream of insults while the young woman controlled herself and she only responded by saying “Thank you.”

CNN has agreed to identify the younger woman only as “Sherry” because of her fear of further harassment

The young woman told the CNN, “I watched videos and heard about similar racist practices on social media, but I never thought that it would happen with me… I no longer feel safe now … I thought this would never happen to me… I was born and brought up here … and now I am afraid even to leave the house.”

Torrance City Police Department, where the incident took place last Wednesday, explained that the young woman Filipino American woman filed a criminal threat report Thursday and an investigation is underway.

Statistics indicate that 36.6 percent of Torrance residents are of Asian origin which is the second largest ethnic group in the city.

The United States is witnessing massive anti-racist protests that included more than 140 cities across the United States and spread out after the killing of George Floyd an African-American citizen in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 25th at the hands of the US police when a policeman sat on his neck for about nine minutes until he passed away.
