A Russian school to be established in Damascus soon

Moscow, SANA- Russian President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East and North Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov stressed that Russia is studying the possibility of heading to the UN Council for Human Rights to submit an initiative to issue a resolution on protecting the Christians in the Middle East.

During  round- table session in Moscow to discuss the situations of the Christians in the Middle East, Bogdanov said that work is continuous through the channels of the Russian Foreign Ministry to unify efforts of the International community for protecting the Christians in the Middle East.

Regarding the crisis in Syria, Bogdanov said” We concentrate on the need for Syrian Government and the” Moderate Opposition” to reach a common understanding in the framework of fighting terrorism and extremism.”

For his part, Head of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society Sergei Stepashin said that a Russian School will be be established soon in
Damascus.

He added that the funds for the project are available, but the project waits for allocating the land.

eeeFor his part, Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Riad Haddad said that a land in Damascus was allocated for the Russian School, hoping that the school shifts to become a university in the future.

He added that since the first days of the global war on Syria, Syrian citizens from different spectrums have affirmed their support to the government against terrorism.

“Crimes and massacres committed in the Syrian cities and towns at the hands of terrorists aim at forcing the Christians and the rest minorities to leave the country,” Hadad said.
