Damascus, SANA- The number of the countries who have confirmed their participation in the 61st edition of Damascus International Fair has reached up to 30 states till now as their pavilions will extend over an area of 95 thousand square meters which is the largest area achieved by the Fair since the 1950s.
Director General of the General Organization for International Exhibitions and Markets (OIEM), Ghassan Fakyani said in a statement to SANA on Monday that the 61st edition of Damascus International Fair which will be held under the slogan “From Syria to the World” is witnessing a wide and varied international participation which affirms Syria’s strength and importance in the economic and investment domains on the international level.
23 days ahead of launching the Fair, the administration of the organization works on completing preparations and putting the finishing touches on the pavilions and the other places, according to Fakyani.
He added that the preparation of the Syrian pavilion has been finished while the handing of the pavilions at the roofed and unroofed spaces has started to allow the participants to start preparation of their pavilions completely and to bring their goods via the private gates.
The total area of the Fair Grounds which was opened in the year 2003 at its new headquarters on the International Airport Road is estimated at 1.2 million square meters and the area of the roofed pavilions is about 83 thousand square meters while the area of the unroofed pavilions is estimated at 150 thousand square meters.
With regard to the presence of the specialized exhibitions at the Fair, Fakyani indicated that they will include the sectors of the banking, insurance and the agricultural products as well as al-Bassel Fair for Innovation and Invention, in addition to a pavilion for the traditional handicrafts and a market for selling the products and another one within the pavilion of the Tourism Ministry.
Fakyani indicated that the administration of the Fair is working on facilitating the movement of the Fair’s visitors through increasing the number of the sign boards and organizing their places, in addition to assigning numbers for the pavilions and lighting up the Fairgrounds as a whole, and providing an additional parking that accommodates 10 thousand cars.
Fakyani said that the opening of the Fair will be on August 28th and it will be limited to the private invitations only while it will be opened for all visitors on August 29th and it will last till September 6th.
The 61st edition of Damascus International Fair is considered as a platform for promoting the Syrian products and a significant opportunity for invigorating investment in Syria.
