Daraa, SANA- The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that a terrorist attack targeted a patrol of the Russian military police with an explosive device in Daraa countryside and no causalities were reported among the Russian service members.
Chief of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Hmeimim Major General Alexei Bakin said in a statement on Saturday “On the route of the military police of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation patrolling the province of Daraa, an improvised explosive device was remotely detonated. There were no casualties among the Russian military personnel, nor damage to the military hardware.”
“According to preliminary information, the act of sabotage and terror was committed by members of terrorist groups, which operate separately in south Syria with the aim to escalate the situation in that region,” Bakin said.
Russia has been participating in the war against terrorism by the side of the Syrian Army since September 2015 upon a request by the Syrian Arab Republic and over that period heavy losses have been inflicted upon the terrorist organizations.
