Iran: Turkey’s intervention in Syria has prolonged the crisis

Tehran, SANA – A high-ranking official of the Iranian Foreign Ministry blamed the Turkish intervention in Syria for prolonging the “war” in the country.

“The Turkish intervention in the Syrian affair caused the war in Syria to drag on and resulted in heavy losses and damage and the displacement of innocents there,” the official said on Tuesday.

This fact, the official added, has become known to everybody despite of the “Turkish propaganda,” noting that “no one takes any more what is being said about the crisis in Syria.”

The official’s statement, published by Iranian media outlets, came in response to statements made by the head of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday in which the latter said there are differences in views over Syria between Turley and Iran and that both sides cannot cooperate with relation to this issue.

“Was it not for the Turkish government putting obstacles and obstructions because of its ambitions, and was it not for its persistence to go on with its approach to bring a regime change in Syria and providing support to the terrorists, the crisis in Syria could have been settled three years earlier,” the Iranian official said.

He expressed hope that there will not be similar Turkish statements so as for the course of the relations between Iran and Turkey not to be influenced.
