Army engineering units clear Deir Ezzor city’s southern entrance from mines left behind Daesh terrorists

Deir Ezzor, SANA- An engineering unit of the Syrian Arab Army on Sunday carried out combing operations in surroundings of al-Banorama roundabout at the southern entrance of Deir Ezzor city.

Speaking to SANA, a demining expert said that the engineering units conducted a preliminary detection by fully canvassing of the area , which extends from al-Banorama roundabout towards the southwestern and Talet Um Abboud at the Deir Ezzor-Tadmour international highway, setting up a map for movements in the areas planted with mines by terrorists.

The engineering units detonated a large number of anti-personnel and anti-tanks mines, some of which are US-made, by a mine sweeper while a number of mines have been dismantled after identifying their sites by land mine detections.

In turn, Chairman of Deir Ezzor’s City Council, Raed Mandil said that combing the Banorama Roundabout from the terrorists’ remnants ensures the safety of locals in the city , who used to visit the area in Spring ,and spare the civilians risks of mines, which resulting in killing and injuring scores of the civilians in the past period.
