UN official : Unilateral economic measures on Syria violate human rights

Brussels, SANA- Special Rapporteur at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Idriss Jazairy criticized the unilateral economic coercive measures imposed by the US and the European Union on the Syrian people, affirming that they represent a dangerous violation of human rights.

Jazairy told Russian Novosti Agency that imposing these measures causes the violation of human rights and the suffering of the Syrian people.

He indicated to the absence of logic by the West in justifying why these measures were imposed.

Jazairy affirmed that imposing these economic measures refutes the claims of the Western states with regard to  defending human rights as they cause the suffering of people.

During his visit to Syria in May 2018, Jazairy asserted that the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria undermine the human rights in the domains of healthcare, education, culture and modern technology.
