Syria, Iraq discuss opening borders, enhancing trade

Baghdad, SANA-Speaker of the Iraqi parliament Mohammad al-Halbousi discussed on Sunday with Syria’s Ambassador in Baghdad Sattam Jada’an al-Dandah means of boosting bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and issues of mutual concern.

Iraq’s parliament said in a statement that the two sides affirmed the need for securing the joint borders between Syria and Iraq and opening crossings during the coming stage to facilitate transport movement and support trade between the two states.

The Syrian Ambassador, for his part, stressed the importance of enhancing the brotherly ties between both countries.

“The meeting comes within the common coordination between the two states in order to realize a broader cooperation in the economic, political and security domains,” Dandah told SANA correspondent in a press statement.
