Daraa, SANA- Authorities on Thursday seized a number of antiquity pieces dating back to ancient historical eras in al-Sanamain area in Daraa northern countryside that had been prepared to be smuggled.
The authorities also arrested several people while trying to smuggle these pieces out of Syria.
SANA reporter in Daraa said that the seized pieces included the Holy Bible, antique vessels, stone figures, various glass and stone pieces, an ornately embossed ring, a lion’s sculpture without a head, a church altar stone, a jar used to collect money and coins dating back to ancient eras.
Daraa Antiquities Department, in cooperation with the Police Command in the province, has foiled many attempts in several areas of Daraa countryside to smuggle archaeological pieces dating back to different eras.
In other context , during process of sweeping the areas liberated by the Syrian Arab Army in Daraa, the authorities seized amounts of weapons left behind by terrorists in al-Sanamain area, including weapons and various munitions.
