Russian plane carrying 17 tons of food aid arrives in Lattakia

Lattakia, SANA- A Russian plane carrying 17 tons of food aid arrived on Tuesday at Bassel al-Assad Airport in Lattakia.

The aid, provided by the Russian government and people, the Russian Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, and the Syrian-Russian Association (Russia SAR), consists of baby food, sugar, canned goods, and assorted other supplies.

Lattakia Governor Ahmad Sheikh Abdelqader expressed Syria’s appreciation for the aid provided by Russia, asserting that this shipment will be distributed among the families affected by terrorism.

Earlier, the website of Russia Today quoted Official Spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Drobyshevsky as saying that the plane, which is affiliated to the ministry, took off from Ramenskoye airport and headed for Lattakia city carrying humanitarian aid onboard.

Over the past months and years, Russia has sent huge amounts of humanitarian aid to the Syrian people including foodstuffs and medical materials.
