Lavrentiev: 10th round of Astana talks affirmed combating terrorism in Syria till full eradication

Sochi, SANA – Head of the Russian delegation to the 10th round of Astana talks, Alexander Lavrentiev, said that the talks highlighted the efficiency of Astana process in making progress towards a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

In a press conference at the conclusion of the talks, Lavrentiev noted that the participants reached a joint accord on means of fighting terrorism in Syria and the need to fully eradicate this phenomenon as soon as possible.

He added that Russia supports Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and its forces are in Syria to confront terrorism.

“Moscow stresses the need to eliminate terrorist organizations in Idleb, topped by Jabhat al-Nusra, and calls upon the so-called opposition and the Turkish regime, as guarantors of these terrorist groups to solve the problem of the presence of this terrorist organization in Idleb,” said Lavrentiev.
